SALEM TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Knox couple were seriously injured Thursday in a one-vehicle accident along Route 208.

Clarion-based State Police say the accident happened around 4:00 p.m. when a 2010 Buick Lucerne operated by 81-year-old Donna C. Hogue, of Knox, crossed over the center line and exited the roadway for unknown reasons.

Hogue’s vehicle slammed into a tree before rolling onto its roof and coming to a rest in a culvert.

Hogue and a passenger, 81-year-old Raymond A. Hogue, of Knox, were extricated from the vehicle by Knox Volunteer Fire Company.

Police say the couple were flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of major injuries.

Both were wearing safety belts, according to police.

There is no word on their current conditions.
