Man Facing Charges for Alleged Rape of 11-year-old Oil City Boy

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – A 34-year-old man was arrested this morning after an almost two-year long investigation into the alleged rape of a child at an Oil City residence.

Oil City Police reports arresting Aaron James Cole, 34, of 2835 W. 32 St., Erie Pa. at District Judge Dinberg’s office on Friday February 28, 2014, at 10:00 a.m.

Cole was charged with two counts of Rape of a Person Less Than 13 years, two counts of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, two counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, and other related sex offenses.

The felony charges were filed, and an arrest warrant was obtained, after the investigation into the sexual acts that were allegedly committed by Cole on an 11-year-old male child.

The child was injured at the time and was treated at a hospital in Mercer County. These alleged acts are purported to have occurred in the month of February 2001 while the defendant was living in Oil City.

The charges are a felony of the first degree and carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $25,000.00 fine for each count with enhancements for the crimes being committed on a child.

Cole was arraigned in front of District Judge Dinberg and released on $25,000.00 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 26 in Central Court.

The Oil City Police department was assisted in the investigation by the Venango County District Attorney’s Office.
