SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – A fire broke out at the Clarion Boards Inc. fiberboard plant in Paint Township, Clarion County early this morning.

Shippenville-Elk Township VFD responded to an industrial fire at the plant around 1:30 a.m.

According to Shippenville-Elk Fire Chief Jeremy Hallberg, the fire started at the out-feed of a press and spread into the duct work of other systems.

The blaze was contained shortly after arrival and fully extinguished around 4:00 a.m.

“There wasn’t a large amount of damage.” said Chief Hallberg. “Most of our time was spent taking duct work apart to get to the fire.”

There’s no word on the cause of the fire.

No one was injured. Shippenville Ambulance was on standby as a precautionary measure.

Knox Volunteer Fire Company, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, and Emlenton Fire Department were also on the scene.
