Franklin Woman Killed, Man Flown to UPMC Presbyterian Following Sugarcreek Rollover Crash

SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a fatal crash occurred late last night on the 800 block of Sugarcreek Drive, in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.

According to police, this one-vehicle crash occurred around 11:23 p.m. as a 2005 Scion Tc was traveling west on Sugarcreek Drive. The car under-compensated for a right curve and went off the left side of the roadway. Once off the road, the car struck a utility pole with the driver’s side door. The car then flipped over and spun 180 degrees, coming to a rest on its roof.

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh pronounced 34-year-old Christina Joan Hoover, of Franklin, dead at the scene, police say.

Community Ambulance Service transported 32-year-old Raymond Norman Herold, of Franklin, to a landing zone where care was transferred to Stat Medevac who transported him to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

Community Ambulance Service, Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Utica Volunteer Fire Department, Penelec, and Lowry’s Towing assisted at the scene.

No other information was provided.
