According to Franklin-based State Police, Cynthia L. Gross, 49, of St. Joseph, Mo., was driving a 2009 Nissan Titan west in the right lane towing a 23-foot camper trailer around 1 p.m.
Police say Gross lost control of the camper and then subsequently lost control of the truck.
The vehicle and camper both traveled off the north berm and overturned before coming to rest on the driver’s side.
Kevin G. Gross, 56, of Saint Joseph, Mo., a passenger in the Titan, died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
STAT MedEvac transported Cynthia Gross to Grove City Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed for several hours from Exit 42 (Route 38, Emlenton) to Exit 35 (Route 308, Clintonville). The highway has since reopened.
In addition to Franklin-based State Police and STAT MedEvac, volunteer fire departments from Emlenton, Clintonville, and Parker responded, as well as EMS from Superior and Emlenton.
