FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man is in custody after police say he intentionally hit a man with his vehicle early Sunday morning.

Franklin Police Patrolman McConnell said officers were dispatched to 15th Street around 2:25 a.m. for a report of shots fired.

Following an investigation, it was determined that Kevin Vanwormer, 33, of Franklin, intentionally struck a man with his vehicle, causing serious bodily injury to the victim.

Vanwormer then allegedly proceeded to run behind a residence while firing a handgun multiple times, according to police.

Upon police arrival, Vanwormer was pulling into the driveway of his residence. Police say he got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Police were able to apprehend Vanwormer on his front porch, at which time he allegedly resisted arrest forcing officers to use a taser on him.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Venango County Jail.

Additional details are expected to be released on Monday.
