FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A teen suspected of murdering a Butler County man was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in Venango County.
According to a representative of the Franklin Police Department, 19-year-old Alec Miller was taken into custody in Franklin today in a joint effort involving the Franklin Police Department and the Franklin-based State Police.
Sources say the arrest was made around 3:00 p.m. at a location along Grant Street.
Police are expected to issue a press release with additional details soon.
Miller is suspected in the shooting death of 23-year-old Maximilian Halterman.
According to a published article in WPXI.com, Halterman was found shot to death around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday inside his home on Davis Road, about 1/2 mile east of State Route 68, in Oakland Township, Butler County.
Authorities say Halterman apparently died from a single gunshot wound to his upper right shoulder. Police believe the shooting occurred on Tuesday evening between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.; however, they did not arrive at the scene until Wednesday morning following a 9-1-1 call.
Police later identified Miller, who lives near the victim, as a suspect in the shooting.
An arrest warrant was issued for Miller on Wednesday.
