Oil City Man Killed After Tree Falls on Tractor Trailer

WARREN COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man was killed on Monday afternoon when a tree fell on the tractor trailer he was operating.

Warren-based State Police say the accident occurred in Pittsfield Township, Warren County, around 2:55 p.m.

According to police, Lanny Charles Ross, 57, of Oil City, was traveling west bound on State Route 27 when a tree fell from the north edge of the roadway onto the cab portion of his 2014 Kenworth tractor trailer.

Ross’s tractor trailer came to a final rest approximately 253 feet from the point of impact. Police say the vehicle sustained major damage.

Ross was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Jerry Borden.

Youngsville VFD, Garland VFD, and PennDOT assisted at the scene.
