One Dead in Clarion County Crash

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Pa. – One person has been confirmed dead and another sustained major injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Monroe Township early this morning.

State police said the accident occurred on Route 68 around 1:23 a.m. when a northbound 1999 Chevrolet 1500 operated by 21-year-old John S. McIntyre, of Sligo, crossed over the center line for an unknown reason and struck a southbound 1999 Chrysler Concord operated by 24-year-old Jonathan S. Deitz of East Brady.

Deitz was pronounced dead at the scene by Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer.

McIntyre was flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie for treatment of major injuries sustained in the crash.

There’s no word on McIntyre’s current condition.
