UPDATE: Victim Identified in Cornplanter Twp. Fire

FIRE-FATALCORNPLANTER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – The victim in a fatal garage fire Thursday in Cornplanter Township, Venango County, has been identified.

The body of 66-year-old Cary Fry was discovered by firefighters inside the 534 Bankson Road garage.

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh told exploreVenango.com, “No autopsy was completed due to the significant damage to the body.”

Rugh added that she performed her own toxicology test, and the case is pending the results.

According to Venango County 911, the fire broke out around 4:48 p.m. and the scene was cleared around 8:40 p.m.

The structure was determined to be a total loss.

The fire remains under investigation.

Cornplanter Volunteer Fire Department, Rouseville Volunteer Fire Department, Seneca Volunteer Fire Department, Cherrytree Volunteer Fire Department, Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department, Reno Volunteer Fire Department, and Community Ambulance responded to the scene.

Franklin-based State Police were also dispatched to the scene.
