CLARION BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A Venango County fugitive is behind bars after a police pursuit Sunday evening in Clarion County ended in a crash.
The following charges were filed against Allen Bruce Taylor Jr., 62, of Franklin, on Monday at Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn’s office in Clarion:
- Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
- Aggravated Assault, Felony 2 (2 counts)
- Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer, Felony 3
- Recklessly Endangering Another, Misdemeanor 2 (4 counts)
- Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforce, Misdemeanor 2 (2 counts)
- Failure To Keep Right, Summary
- Careless Driving, Summary
- Reckless Driving, Summary
According to a release issued by Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Manns, Taylor was stopped by Clarion Borough Police Officer Sheckler after he allegedly committed a traffic violation while traveling on Main Street.
During the stop, it was determined that Taylor was wanted in Venango County for a probation violation.
Taylor fled when Officer Sheckler attempted to take him into custody.
A police pursuit involving multiple units from Clarion Police and Clarion-based State Police ensued.
Clarion-based State Police took the lead on the pursuit following multiple unsuccessful attempts to stop Taylor, according to Tpr. Manns.
Taylor lost control of his vehicle around 6:50 p.m. on Route 66 approximately 4 miles south of Clarion in Limestone Township.
Taylor allegedly continued his attempt to flee and rammed a Clarion Borough Police vehicle.
Police say the vehicle came to a stop at this point. Taylor resisted arrest briefly before being taken into custody.
Taylor was lodged in the Clarion County Jail where he is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
The incident shut down Route 66 for nearly 2 hours. Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, Clarion Hospital EMS and Limestone QRS (Quick Response Team) were also called to the scene.
