OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Oil City Police say a 42-year-old woman kidnapped from a Plummer Street residence early Wednesday morning has been found safe.

Police say the woman, from Cambridge, Ohio, was staying with friends in Oil City because of a separation from her estranged husband. At approximately 4:00 a.m., the woman’s estranged husband found her and removed her from the residence, located in the 500 block of Plummer Street.

Authorities say the suspect has a Protection from Abuse Order (PFA), prohibiting him from making contact with the victim. The suspect is in possession of a handgun and has a history of violence, according to police.

Investigators traced the victim’s cell phone to a Zanesville, Ohio, location, at which point, Oil City Police informed police in that area.

According to Oil City Police, the woman was found safe in Zanesville around 3:45 p.m.

There is no word on whether charges are pending against the suspect.

No further information has been released.
