ASHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Authorities have identified the 49-year-old woman killed in an Easter Sunday crash along State Route 338 in Ashland Township, Clarion County.

Around 8:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by Beatrice King, of Guys Mills, Pa., was traveling west on State Route 338, approximately one mile outside of Knox, when a horse entered the roadway and collided with the front of the vehicle.

Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer told exploreClarion.com that the “horse came up on the hood and then on top of the roof, causing the roof to cave in.”

Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Pettis says the vehicle continued to travel west across the eastern berm and then crossed back over the roadway and crashed into a ditch.

King was then extricated from the vehicle by emergency crews.

Shaffer pronounced King dead at the scene at 10:12 p.m.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

The horse also died in the accident, according to Shaffer.
