Police say the accident happened around 5:07 p.m. when an east-bound 2000 Dodge Durango operated by 40-year-old Charles W. Shreffler, of Sligo, left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole.

Shreffler’s vehicle then rolled several times, traveling approximately 210 feet.

Carpenter was ejected during the crash. She was found approximately 75 feet from the vehicle.

Shreffler was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of major injuries.
