Woman Shot and Killed by Oil City Police

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – According to sources, a woman was shot and killed by Oil City Police on Tuesday evening.

According to a published article by the Tribune Review, State Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in Oil City around 9:00 p.m.

The report states that Oil City Police officers were dispatched to a location in the 400 block of Central Avenue for a report of a person with “mental issues.”

Preliminary reports indicate that an officer was approached by 68-year-old woman with a knife and was subsequently shot and killed by police.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.

The identity of the woman has not yet been released.

Early Wednesday morning, Pennsylvania State Police issued a press release acknowledging that a female had been shot at the residence. The release also confirmed that State Police Troop E is investigating the shooting, at the request of the Oil City Police Department.

Police say additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
