OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Police say an Oil City man was arrested on burglary and related charges early Monday morning.

According to the Oil City Police Department, 27-year-old Parker A. James, of Oil City, was arrested early Monday morning on charges of Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft, and Criminal Mischief at his Oil City home.

Oil City Police were summoned to Linden Avenue for a report of a broken front picture window of a home. The victim told police that they arrived home to find the window had been broken out, and they were unaware if anyone was still inside.

As police investigated, they found that home was empty; however, the individual who had broken the window entered the home at some point. This was evident because the individual had been cut on the broken glass, leaving blood on the window and a trail of blood throughout the home. Other evidence at the scene indicated that the individual would have suffered a laceration to the right arm.

While walking through the home with police, the victim reported that a Sony Playstation 4 had been removed from his roommate’s bedroom.

Through additional investigation, officers found that Parker James had suffered a laceration to the right arm. It was then confirmed by the victim that he personally knows James and that James has been inside the home before.

Oil City Police officers conducted a follow up at the James residence. Upon contact with James, officers observed that he was bandaged from his right hand to above his elbow. When asked what had happened to his arm, James admitted that had broken the window, but denied entering the home.

James told officers that he traveled to UPMC Hamot Erie overnight to be treated medically.

During the interview, James advised officers that he was attempting to collect a $300.00 refund check from a pool league that was to be split among the team that James and the victim were a part of.

Additional evidence was observed at the James home, which when coupled with evidence observed near the victim’s home, corroborated that James was not acting alone. It was clear to police that James had been the passenger in his own vehicle with an accomplice driver aiding him in fleeing from the crime scene.

The investigation continues into the accomplice driver; but, at this point, police are confident in their suspect and expect to make an additional arrest of that individual in the near future, according to police.

James was arraigned before District Justice Andrew Fish on the following charges:

– Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
– Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
– Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1

Bail was set at $15,000.00 unsecured.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, with Judge Fish presiding.
