Woman Dies Following Pedestrian Traffic Accident in Cranberry Township

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A woman was killed after she was hit by the driver of a pickup truck on Sunday evening in Cranberry Township.

According to Franklin-based State Police, 56-year-old Sandra Woodlock, of Silver Spring, Md., was either riding or walking south with a Vitesse bicycle along Cranberry-Rockland Road at 6:55 p.m. Sunday when she was struck by a 2016 Chevy 3500 Silverado, driven by Gregory Exley, 68, of Kennerdell.

Police said Woodlock was wearing black and dark-colored clothing and apparel when she was struck by the truck, which was also traveling south. Police also said the bike was not equipped with front or rear facing headlamps that are required between sunset and sunrise.

Woodlock was thrown into the ditch after being hit with her bicycle coming to rest several feet away from her, along the road.

Exley was using his seat belt was not injured.

Woodlock was taken to UPMC Seneca by Community Ambulance.

She died as a result of her injuries.
