Bridge Builders Community Foundations, Venango County Sheriff Teaming Up to Support K9 Program

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – An agreement between Bridge Builders Community Foundations and the Venango County Sheriff’s Department to help support the Sheriff’s Department K9 program was approved at Tuesday’s Venango County Commissioners meeting.

Sheriff’s deputy Ryan Williams told the commissioners the agreement will create a fund managed by Bridge Builders where people interested in donating to the K-9 program, which is funded via donations, can contribute.

Anyone interested in contributing should contact Bridge Builders at 814-677-8687 or the Sheriff’s Office at 814-432-9650.

Another current fundraiser for K9 Baxter is currently on going and is a t-shirt sale. Short-sleeve t-shirts start as low $15 and long-sleeve shirts at $20 and can be purchased by calling the sheriff’s office at the above number. An order form is also available on the department’s Facebook page. All orders must be turned into the office by Sept. 15.

CONTRACT FOR EVALUATION OF CORNPLANTER SQUARE BUILDING APPROVED

The commissioners also approved a contract in the amount of $71,400 with Design Lab Architects of Boston to do an in depth analysis of the building and all its systems to decide what it would cost to get the building to where the county wants it to be.

OTHER BUSINESS

In other business the commissioners:

  • Entered into a Memorandum of Understanding between the Venango County Juvenile Probation Office and Policy Research Associates, Inc.
  • Ratified a Health Services Coordination of Care Agreement with Gateway Health Plan, LP.
  • Approved a maintenance agreement with Deets Mechanical in the amount of $4,750 for the HVAC system at the airport.
  • Agreed to transfer $10,000 from the contingency fund to the Community Development Budget to assist CASA in paying rent.
  • Agreed to require clearances (Act 151, Act 34 and FBI) every four years instead of every three years while also approving the use of JNET as the notification procedure for the clearance process.
  • Approved an agreement with Explore YourTown, Inc. (the parent company of exploreVenango) to post job listing on the company’s sites and social media platforms.
  • Approved a grant agreement in the amount of $60,000 with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
  • Approved a Review Fee Reimbursement Agreement in conjunction with a pair of projects – one at A. Crivelli Subaru and another at UPMC Northwest.
  • Contracted with Miller Construction for new metal roofs on two pavilions at Two Mile Run County Park – one at the Fishing Pier and the other at Hill Top.
  • Appointed Kim Woods to serve as the MH Representative to the Northwest Behavioral Health Partnership, Inc.
  • Reappointed Judy Gold and Williams to the Safety Committee and appointed Erik Johnson and Jay Poindexter to the committee.
  • Ratified an amendment to the existing Indefeasible Rights of Use Agreement with Zito Business.
  • Appointed Ed McIntrye to fill a temporary opening in the Public Defender office.
  • NEW HIRES/PROMOTIONS/TRANSFERS

    The following new hires/promotions and transfers were approved:

  • Brian Martin was hired as a full-time Corrections Officer at the prison effective July 31.
  • Sarah Schab was hired as a full-time Fiscal Operations Officer 1 in the Department of Human Services effective July 17.
  • Kimberly Woods was promoted from Deputy Human Services Administrator to Human Services Administrator/MH/DS Director effective Aug. 7.
  • Amie Wood-Wessell was transferred and promoted from Manager in Children & Youth Services to Deputy Human Services Administrator effective Aug. 7
  • Kandra Hillard and Nicole Garich were promoted from Service Coordinator Interns in MH/DS to Service Coordinator Is probationary full-time in CYS effective with the special condition of the positions being available for one year. Garich’s promotion is effective Aug. 21 with Hillard’s effective Aug. 28.
  • Effective July. 17 Barbara Benedict, a Budget Analyst II in Human Services received a raise of $3,259.31. The rate adjustment was to Human Services restructuring and an increase in her duties and responsibilities.
  • Denise Fox’s probationary period as a Department Clerk III in Human Services ended July 21.
  • Ashley Smith was hired on a probationary basis a Land Use Planner full-time in the Planning Department effective Aug. 21. This is a newly created position.
  • Justin Fichter was hired as a Service Coordinator Intern in Older Adult Services effective Sept. 18 to last through May 11, 2018.
  • Sufana Chowdhury was promoted and transferred from Department Clerk II in Human Services to Administrative Officer I in MH/DS effective July 31 to fill a newly created position.
  • Abby Flockerzi was reallocated from Administrative Assistant II in the Commissioner’s office to Administrative Assistant III in the same office effective July 3 with an increase in pay of $1.2288 per hour. The change in position and increase in salary is due to a “significant” increase in duties.
  • Jennifer Kennedy’s Fiscal Analyst II position in Human Services moved from an hour, non-exempt position to a salaried exempt position effective July 17 with a base-pay raise of approximately $3,535.58. The position reallocation is due to increased duties as part of a restructuring of Human Services Fiscal Department
  • Marie Plumer was promoted from Substance Abuse/Adult & Youth Service Director to Human Services Deputy Administrator – System Management/Substance Abuse Director with a raise of $2,315.78 effective Aug. 7. The reallocation is due to restructuring of Human Service Departments.SEPARATION OF EMPLOYMENT

    The following separation of employments were announced:

  • Abby Hoffman as a Corrections Office effective July 26.
  • Jewell Williams as a Drug & Alcohol Case Management Specialist II effective July 28.
  • Jayne Romero as the Human Services Administrator/MHDS Director effective Aug. 4.
  • Shannon Sumoske as a Case Manager in Community Support Services effective July 19.
