Powell will kick things off for The Rock on the final day of competition when the javelin finals begin at 11:30 a.m. local time in Texas (12:30 p.m. EST).

She is making her second trip to the national meet after making her debut last spring.

Powell placed 17th in the javelin at nationals last year in her first appearance. She enters this year ranked 20th with a season-best effort of 45.12 meters, set two weeks ago at the PSAC Championships.

A total of 23 women were accepted into the field for the javelin. The top seed in the event is Missouri Southern’s Morgan Ash at 51.45 meters. The top 12 seeds have all thrown over 47.00 meters this year. The 23rd and final seed in the event is 44.60 meters. Powell will be joined by two other athletes from the PSAC in Shippensburg’s Morgan DeFloria and Kutztown’s Megan Kirn.
