Bruce Alan McFall, 81, a lifelong resident of Oil City, PA passed away suddenly Saturday, July 15, after a few months battle with mesothelioma.

He was born November 17,1935 a son of the late Jacob Earl and Mildred Fowler McFall.

He was the beloved husband of Diane Martens McFall, they were married March 6,1965.

Bruce graduated from Oil City High School and received a BS degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN in French and Spanish languages. He later also received a degree in German. He became more proficient by obtaining a Masters Degree from Millersville University.

He was in the US army from 1959 -1961 after which he began teaching in Oil City High school.

From 1964 to 1968 he worked for the US government in Washington, D.C. and Frankfurt, Germany.

After starting his family, he decided to settle back home and was able to again obtain a job teaching foreign languages in Oil City from 1968-1993 when he retired. He also held the department head job for foreign languages.

He thoroughly enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Pirates, coached little league for several years, enjoyed golf when possible, belonged to two bowling leagues and served two terms on the Oil City School Board.

He was still playing volleyball six months ago!

He is survived by his wife, Diane; a daughter Pamela Kerr, and husband Mark and their children Justin McFall and fiancée Lacey, Jasmine McFall, Isaiah Kerr, Gabrielle Kerr; and a son, Keith McFall and wife Stacey and their children, Maddie McFall, Libbie McFall, Spencer McFall, Emmie McFall, all of Oil City; and 2 great-grandchildren, Chase McFall and Taryn McFall. He was very proud of his family and was encouraging to everyone he met.

Also surviving are 5 siblings, Bettie Hughes of Oil City, Rita Watson, Elkhart, IN, Mary Gray of Sun City AZ, Alma Pearson and husband Bob of Arvada, CO and Clark McFall and wife Pauline of Sarasota FL and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Gary in 1984 and six siblings, Albert McFall, Marjorie Johnston, Shirley Kooman, Sally Gilford, Carol Mathers and Dennis McFall, Sr.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm, and 7 to 9 pm, and on Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church from 12 noon to 1 pm.

Funeral services will be held in Christ Lutheran Church at 1 pm Thursday with the Rev. David Oester, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Christ Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
