FAIRMOUNT CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Hunting has been a major part of the Dougherty family, so it was no surprise when they opened their new signature sporting goods shop and wild game museum in Fairmount City two years ago.

Located along Longview Road in Fairmount City, in the former B.J.Well Service warehouse, Long Shot Ammo & Arms is a full-service firearm and supply store owned and operated by DBI Inc.

Long Shot has quickly become the place to be with a wide variety of fun and interesting things to do.

After opening just two years ago, Long Shot offers just about anything an outdoors or gun lover could want, especially during the winter months.

In the market for a new gun?

The first thing you’ll notice upon entering the store is the huge selection of rifles and shotguns on the walls and just about everything for the shooting sports on the shelves.

Long Shot has a wide array of weaponry that will impress even the most ardent shooter. Their selection includes rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders, tactical, and collectible guns and the largest selection of handguns in the area.

Long Shot also offers several professional services, including cleaning, scope mounting, bore sighting, gun appraisals, and insurance appraisals.

For the archer, Long Shot is a Matthews compound bow dealer, as well as an exclusive Ravin Crossbow dealer and various archery supplies.

They offer winter shooting leagues for .22 rifle and archery, and they held a date night event recently for couples.

They have an upcoming steak .22 shoot planned for Sunday, March 18.

With fishing season just around the corner, Long Shot is also the place to stock up on tackle and gear and camping supplies.

Rods, reels, line, hooks, sinkers, coolers, you name it, Long Shot will help anglers replenish their supplies. Long Shot also will have live bait available at the shop.

swiftThe Swift Safariland Museum features big game trophies from all over the world that Vince has taken on his hunting trips.

The museum is quickly becoming well-known area feature with more than 100 animal trophies from around the world. Some of these trophies include an elephant, grizzly bear, lionsm and much more.

The story behind each hunt is what makes this museum special. Almost all of the animals were taken by owner Vincent Dougherty with his .220 Swift.

Entering Safariland, the first thing that catches the eye is a massive African warrior statue in the center of the room.

To the right is a wall lined with large antlered animals like elk, red stag, whitetail, and mule deer. To the left is beautiful mountain scene with a life-size grizzly bear and trophies found at high elevations including tahr, sheep, and goats.

The main and rear walls are painted with beautiful murals of African landscapes and adorned with trophies from “the dark continent” including an elephant, hippo, lion, cape buffalo, crocodile, and many plains game species.
