BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — According to court documents, a Butler County man has been ordered to serve seven years probation for thefts he committed since last fall.

Sources say 24-year-old Matthew Clyde McCracken was involved in a purse-snatching spree and scrap metal theft with 32-year-old James McConeghy since last fall; the incidents occurred in Butler, Allegheny, Beaver, and Westmoreland Counties.

According to police, McCracken committed the thefts to feed his heroin addiction.

McCracken was sentenced on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy for his four Butler County cases.

McCracken has been ordered to serve seven years of probation, pay approximately $5,000 in restitution, and perform 200 hours of community service.
