Car Crashes into Ditch Along Route 427

JACKSON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a one-car accident occurred early Sunday morning on State Route 427, in Jackson Township, Venango County.

According to police, around 3:28 a.m. on December 17, 27-year-old Robin C. Brain, of Kennerdell, was traveling south on Route 427. While negotiating a right curve in the roadway, he overcompensated the turn, and his 1999 Chrysler Sebring crossed over into the northbound lane continuing onto the east berm of the road. The car slid approximately 60 to 70 feet in a snow-covered ditch to its final rest into trees and shrubbery.

According to police, Brain fled the scene upon the arrival of first responders.

He was not using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

The car sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Shambaugh Towing.

Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
