Carl SkibaCarl J. Skiba, 92, formerly of 20 Selden Ave. Oil City, PA., died at 10:59 A.M. Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehab after an extended illness.

Born Dec. 25, 1924 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late George Skiba & Catherine Chmiel Skiba.

Carl attended Assumption and Oil City Schools.

Carl was married on April 5, 1953 in the Assumption B.V.M. Church to the former Frances Moon and she preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2010.

Carl had worked as an inspector at Foster Forbes Glass Plant, retiring after 38 years of service.

He was a member of the Assumption B.V.M. Church.

Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by seven children, Rebecca Cowan & her husband Larry of Cairo,WV, Daniel Skiba & his wife Terri of Oil City, PA., Tom Skiba of Visalia, CA, Rick Skiba of Leesburg, FL, Charlie Skiba of Boalsburg, PA., James M. Skiba & his wife Tina of Santa Fe, NM, and Terry Skiba & his wife Laura of Ocala, FL.; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by four sisters, Mary Jaggers of Oil City, Joan Rearick of Colorado Springs, CO, Phyllis Vrobel of Meadville, Emily Flensted of Elba, NY; a brother, Max Skiba & his wife Delores of Titusville; two sister-in-laws, Myrtle Skiba of New York, and Sophie Skiba of Oil City.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; George, Felix, Edward, and Bill Skiba; and by two sisters, Julia Bliznasky and Sophie Goreczny.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on March 11, 2017 at 10A.M. at St. Venantius Church in Rouseville with Fr. Shane Mathew, Presiding.

Interment will be in Venus Cemetery.
