Carl P. Fox, Jr., 87, a resident of Franklin, died peacefully at 2:20 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2017, in Sugarcreek Station; following a period of declining health.

He was born December 26, 1929, in Oil City, a beloved son of the late: Carl P. and Hazel Bannon Fox.

He was a 1948 graduate of Cranberry High School.

Following his high school graduation, he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Following his honorable discharge from active duty, Mr. Fox had worked for more than 32 years as a machinist at the former Joy Manufacturing Company in Franklin. He was also well-known throughout the area as an accomplished bricklayer.

He was a member of The Eagles Club of Franklin, a life member of V.F.W. Jesse Greer Post# 1835 and Petrolia Masonic Lodge #363 F&AM.

He was an accomplished woodworker and had done extensive remodeling to his home throughout the years. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting as he was able, and spending time at his Frenchcreek Township camp.

He was married November 16, 1957, to the former Helen D. “Dee” Campbell, who survives.

In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, he is survived by two sons: Dr. Thomas Fox and his wife Jennifer of Conneaut Lake and Robert Fox of Franklin, his daughter-in-law, Pamela J. Fox of Seneca, his grandchildren: Melissa Wasko and her husband Nik, Kristen, Zachary, Hannah, Trent, Chad, Matthew and Anna Fox, in addition to his great-grandchildren: Leah and Ella Wasko.

Also, surviving are two sisters: Dixie Benson and Carol Clinefelter, both of Seneca, a “special” cousin: Donald Fischer and longtime friend, Chuck Long; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Steven Craig Fox and David Michael Fox, a sister: Shirley Hitchcock, his father-in-law, and mother-in-law: Thomas and Mercedes Campbell and his beloved companion: his dog, Pepper.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Carl will be laid to rest beside his loving son, David.

A private blessing service will be held in St. Patrick Cemetery, with full military burial rites accorded by the V.E.T.S. Funeral Honor Guard of Franklin, at the convenience of his family.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed to either: The Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the charity of one’s choice.

Carl’s family wishes to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Dr. William Fee and his staff, as well as the staff of Sugarcreek Station for the loving care extended to him during his extended illness.
