Carol D. Huffman

Carol D. Huffman, 85, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Penn Highlands Hospital in Brookville.

She was born on May 15, 1932, the daughter of Frank J. Gluth (Step-mother Kikue) and Irene Bortz Rau (Step-father Lou B. Rau).

On July 25, 1953, Carol married Carl W. Huffman in Brookville, PA who preceded her in death on January 12, 2008.

Carol was a 1951 graduate of Brookville Area High School and while in school, she worked for McCrory’s Department Store, later G.C. Murphy’s in Brookville, and upon graduation she worked for Sylvania in Brookville, and in later years Brookville Area Agency of Aging and also Hilliard Income Tax Services.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brookville, really enjoyed bowling, putting together puzzles, knitting, and especially loved doing crossword puzzles with her husband. Carol loved her family, especially all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family picnics and not only feeding her family, but also friends and neighbors, no one ever left her house hungry.

Carol is survived by two sons and one daughter: William R. Huffman, Valerie L. Nelson (husband Chuck) both of Brookville and Michael L. Huffman (wife Dotty) of Clarion, PA, one brother, Richard R. Gluth of Brookville, seven grandchildren, Scott M. Huffman, Joshua and Alexandra Nelson, Shannon Fetzer, Alyssa, Angelica, and Lance Huffman, and eight great-grandchildren, Skylar Huffman, Caedyn Geer, Malaila Hommes, Remmington Peterson, Eowyn Boyer, Damon, Brianah, and Lilah Nelson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-parents, husband, and one infant son Vincent Carl Huffman.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson Funeral Home in Brookville, PA, and a service in Carol’s memory will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018. at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. Doug Wright presiding.

Interment will take place at the Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville, PA.

Arrangements are under the care of the Peterson Funeral Home, Brookville, PA.
