Carolyn Sue Williams

| February 6, 2019

Carolyn Sue Williams, 56, of Oil City, passed away unexpectedly at her home Sunday morning, February 3.

She was the daughter of the late Randal J. Williams and surviving Patricia A. Mealy Williams.

A native to Oil City, she enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by family and friends.

Growing up she was often involved in church activities at the First Church of the Nazarene.

She graduated from Oil City High School in 1980.

Finding the value in following one’s passion, she would later pursue an extensive career in nursing, including receiving an Associate of Science in Nursing from Clarion University (1991), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Roberts Wesleyan College (1993), a Wound and Ostomy Nursing Certification from the Cleveland Clinic (1996), a Master’s of Science in Nursing (ANCC Certified) from Gannon University (2001), and a Post Masters of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (ANCC Certified) from Case Western Reserve University (2015).

Though Carolyn has lived in northwestern Pennsylvania a great deal of her life, she has also lived, worked, and impacted the lives of individuals across the country.

She loved her profession and practiced nursing for over 25 years.

Some of her experience includes employment at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ, UPMC Northwest, the VNA, other local health offices, and most recently, Clarion Behavioral Health.

She has received numerous awards and certifications, including being voted a Top Ten Speaker at Mayo Clinic and a nomination for the Mayo Clinic Educator of the Year.

Carolyn will be greatly missed, she lived life to the fullest at every chance possible and is known by many as the life of the party.

She not only empowered herself through education, but she also encouraged many others to follow their dreams.

Carolyn was a strong advocate for women and those who couldn’t speak for or protect themselves.

She strived to live a compassionate life and had a great love for all animals.

She volunteered her time whenever help was needed, including many of the local charities and events at the Barrow-Civic Theatre.

Surviving are two sisters, Vicki Miller of Oil City and Joyce Reese of Crestview, FL, and one brother, Robert Williams of Grove City.

She has two surviving nieces, Jessica Reese of Wexford, PA and Monica Delmonico of Moon Township, PA, and two nephews, Matthew Miller of Schuylkill Haven, PA and Ryan Reese of Pittsburgh, PA.

Visitation will be at the Oil City Church of the Nazarene from 2-4 pm on Saturday, February 9.

A service will take place following visitation at 4 pm with the Rev. Robert Flick officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Carolyn’s memory to the Tri-County Animal Rescue Shelter by calling 814-918-2032.
