Case Moves Forward Against Teen Who Falsely Accused Teacher of Selling Pot

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man accused of making false claims about a substitute teacher waived his preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

The following criminal charges were filed against 18-year-old Bailey Andrew McMillen, of Oil City:

– False Report — Falsely Incriminate Another, Misdemeanor 2
– False Reports — Reported Offense Did Not Occur, Misdemeanor 3

The case was transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas by District Judge Andrew Fish.

McMillen is free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

The case working its way through the court system.

The Oil City Police Department said McMillen was enraged after an exchange on Wednesday, October 11, between his girlfriend and substitute teacher Christina Moffett. He then made public statements that Moffett sold and used marijuana with him and another student at her home when they were both juveniles.

Oil City High School Principal Scott Stahl called the Oil City Police Department, and police then spoke with McMillen about his claims. Police investigated the case as if McMillen and another male were victims of a crime(s).

At a point during the investigation, “McMillen admitted to police that he made the false statements to cause problems (for) Moffett and the school district,” according to police.

McMillen is free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.
