Catfish Tourney to Benefit Family of Local Man Killed By Drunk Driver

FOXBURG, Pa. (EYT) — A special catfish tournament is being held this weekend to benefit the family of a local man who was killed by a drunk driver.

Jerry’s Catfish Tournament will benefit the family of Jerry DeHart who was killed on May 5. Jerry’s girlfriend also suffered significant injuries as a result of the crash. Jerry left three children behind, and his girlfriend has two children.

The tournament is scheduled for this weekend, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, through 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 14.

Registration is from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, at the Foxburg Community Building (former Firehall).

The boundaries for the tournament are the Allegheny River from Franklin to Lock No. 9 Clarion River including Piney Reservoir.

The cost is $45.00 per two-man team or single person, and there is also an optional $5.00 lunker pool.

Cash prizes are based on 30 teams and will be increased if there are more teams. First prize is $350.00, second is $175.00, and the third is $75.00. There is also a $100.00 lunker prize.
