Catherine M. Vannell, 84, a resident of 1212 Chestnut Street, Franklin died peacefully at 5:35 PM Friday, July 15, 2016 at Oakwood Heights of Oil City; following a period of declining health.

She was born July 21, 1932 in Elizabeth, NJ a beloved daughter of the late Mamie Malkowski Neeld.

She was married December 18, 1948 to Harry Vannell, Jr. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1995.

Mrs. Vannell was always happiest as a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed working puzzles and sewing. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Vannell of Oil City and four sons: Larry Vannell of Brookville, Dale Vannell and his wife Terri of Emlenton, Howard “Ike” Vannell and Lee Vannell both of Oil City; in addition to 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-granddaughters.

Also surviving is her sister, Helen Tomer and her husband Art of Topsham, ME.

In addition to both her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Bonnie Malone and Gail Metrick and by her sister, Laura Parsons.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.
