Catherine M. Wethli

Catherine M. Wethli, 86, of 104 Greenwood Dr. Oil City, PA. and died at 4 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 21, 2014 at the Titusville Hospital.

Born May 14, 1928 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of the late John & Bridget Gorman Moore.

Catherine was a 1946 graduate of Oil City High School.

She was married on Sept. 26, 1953 in Our Lady Help of Christians Church to Homer E. Wethli and he preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2005.

A homemaker, Mrs. Wethli had worked for Klivan’s Jewelry Store and it is there that she met her husband Homer who owned and operated the store for many years.

Catherine was a life member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church, the former Rosary Society and the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Catherine loved to spend time with her grandchildren, enjoyed square dancing, traveling, a good hike and loved to take long car rides with the family.

She belonged to several card clubs, and could always be found on the bench, at a basketball game at VC, OC or St. Stephen’s.

Catherine had volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years.

She is survived by six children, Cathlene Wethli, of Oil City, Lynn Thompson and her husband Daniel, of Enola, Dr. Marcie Wethli, of Oil City, Edward Wethli, of Cranberry Twp., Tricia Hoover and her husband Shane, of Venus, and Diana Davis and her husband John, of Oil City. Also surviving, are 13 grandchildren Brian, Kyle, and Lauren Thompson; Marcus Homer and Luke Homer; Daniel and Katie Wethli; Adam Hoover and his fiance Amanda McDee, Taylor and Connor Hoover; and Jake, Nate, and Riley Davis; one sister, Mary Murphy, of Apex, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Self and Nora Wilson; one brother, Edward Moore; a nephew, Randy Burton; and a niece, Michelle Blauser.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home before the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church with Fr. Shane Mathew, Presiding.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the new City Square, to have a memorial bench, c/o Bridgebuilders, 213 Seneca St. Oil City, PA 16301.
