Cathy Jackson

| November 15, 2019

Jackson, Cathy cropedIt is with heavy hearts we announce Cathy Ann Jackson, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend was called as our angel on Thursday, November 14, 2019.

Cathy Ann Jackson, 69, AKA Grams, was born on December 22, 1969, on the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA. She was the only daughter of a wonderful mother Arlene Virginia Ashbaugh and a one-of-a-kind father, Fredrick Charles Ashbaugh Sr., both preceding her in passing.

She is a graduate of Allegheny High School class of 1967. Several classmates and friends helped her reminisce about memories (Rich and Nancy Felsing and Linda Tollan).

In 1968, she and her mother made a brave choice to move to New Jersey and start new. Around 1969 is when she met her soulmate/loving husband George A. Jackson who survives at home. They were able to celebrate 45 years of marriage on July 6, 2019, along with being together for 50 years. Although Grams would be the first to tell you she lived in New Jersey for 22 years, she never lost her Pittsburgh accent.

Grams was always her grandchildren’s #1 fan. She could be found in the front row seat at a football/volleyball game or dance competition. She reminded us until the very end, “No Tears and Stay Strong When You Fight.” She becomes an angel to both Treason G. Douglas and Alyssa Arlene Douglas surviving at home, knowing she will be watching over them as always.

She is also survived by her loving daughter Catherine Jackson (Chrissy) at home. Although they didn’t always see eye to eye Cathy supported the dreams and aspirations to the fullest.

Her brother Fredrick C Ashbaugh Jr. of Pithole survives as well as his son Fredrick C. Ashbaugh III (Nicky, Logen, Isabella). They now have a wonderful guardian also. She was preceded in death by her brother Andrew G. Ashbaugh and nephew Jessie L. Ashbaugh for whom she loved dearly. Surviving is Michele (sister-in-law) and nephews Coty Ashbaugh and Joseph Latanzi.

Grams becomes an angel to many other nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws on both sides of her family living in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New Jersey.

Her main joy in life was being a grandmother and making memories with them. She loved planting her flowers and garden, teaching us all how to make things from is as well. She was an avid cook and instilled that in her family. Grams gave us our love for animals, but big dogs were a must. She also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino for some slots and the buffet. Cathy was also able to enjoy one last beach trip to Virginia with her family which made her very happy.

Friends will be received at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Tionesta on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will follow at 7pm in the church with the Rev. Dr. Johnathan Bell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the adopt-a-grandparent program or UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
