Caught on Camera: Former Employee Allegedly Burglarizes Forest County Store

| January 15, 2019

FOREST COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – The former employee of a Forest County grocery store is in hot water after she was reportedly caught on video burglarizing the business.

Marienville-based State Police filed the following charges against Faith Estelle Sager, 63, of Tionesta, on Jan. 11:

  • Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2
  • Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1

According to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper Bell, the burglary occurred at Hickory Video and Grocery along State Route 62 on Jan. 10 at 9:45 p.m.

The criminal complaint states that Faith Sager, a former employee of the store, used a key to unlock the front door. Once inside, she disabled the alarm.

According to the criminal complaint, a video recording inside the store shows Sager entering Hickory Video and Grocery and “touching the lottery machine a few times.” Sager was seen in a separate recording removing several packs of cigarettes from a shelf and then placing them on the counter.

The criminal complaint states that she then placed the cigarettes – one carton of Seneca Blue and 10 packs each of Newport 100’s and Marlboro Special Blend – into a bag before picking up the bag and walking out of camera range.

According to the criminal complaint, Sager then armed the alarm, locked the front door, and exited the building.

The owner of the store told police that he was aware that Sager had a key when she was an employee; however, she gave it back to him when she quit and he was unaware that she still had a copy of it.

The total value of the items stolen is listed at $242.74.

Sager was arraigned before District Judge Daniel L. Miller on Jan. 11 at 11:45 a.m.

She remains free on $50,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is slated for Feb. 5 at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Miller.
