Selection was based on each candidate’s merit for non-paid service to community, church and school. Ten students of cooperative members will each receive a $2,000 scholarship to further their education in the 2018/2019 school year.

Scholarship winners are as follows: Abigail Brockett (Franklin Area High School); Trevin Chittester (Cranberry Area High School); Kera Cussins (North Clarion High School); Kara Daugherty (Grove City College); Ryan Fair (Christian Life Academy); Emily Gourley (Redbank Valley High School); Carissa Janecek (Keystone High School); Rebecca Pennington (Karns City High School); Logan Pistorius (Karns City High School); and Lydia Roth (Butler County Community College).

Funding is available as a result of efforts by both the cooperative and area legislators to secure CEC’s unclaimed capital credits, previously sent back to the Pennsylvania state treasury. These funds now stay in our local neighborhoods. Another clear example of the Cooperative Difference and our commitment to strengthening local communities.

CEC would like to remind members scholarship opportunities are available to all age groups who wish to further their education.

CEC is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative and has been serving members for 81 years. Members are encouraged to attend the our annual meeting of the members Friday, Aug. 24, 2018. Find out more by visiting www.central.coop. The co-op serves approximately 25,000 members with over 3,000 miles of distribution line in portions of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Forest, Mercer and Venango counties.
