CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – The Clarion County District Attorney’s office reports the October 27, 2013, rape charges against a 22-year-old Philadelphia man have been dropped.

Tafari Andrew Haynes, 22, of Philadelphia, was charged with rape and seven other offenses stemming from an incident that was alleged to have occurred sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on October 27, at an apartment complex along Greenville Pike, in Clarion Township, Clarion County.

According to a Criminal Complaint, on Sunday, October 27, at approximately 3:34 a.m. two Clarion University patrolmen, McDevitt and Guntrum, were dispatched to an apartment complex along Greenville Pike for a possible sexual assault. The alleged victim, a known female adult, was a resident of the apartment complex.

The Criminal Complaint states the victim alleged that Haynes told her he wanted to speak to her inside her bedroom. The victim then stated that Haynes then allegedly shoved her across the hallway and into the room, where he allegedly forcibly penetrated her.

She was then transported to the Clarion Hospital ER where she was examined by medical staff.

Following an investigation, Haynes was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn on the following charges:

– Rape Forcible Compulsion, Felony 1
– Sexual Assault, Felony 2
– 3 counts of Indecent Assault-W/O Consent Of Other, Misdemeanor 2
– Unlawful Restraint/ Involuntary Servitude, Misdemeanor 1
– False Imprisonment, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

According to Clarion County District Attorney Mark Aaron, rape and related charges against Haynes have been dropped, citing a lack of evidence.

Aaron told exploreClarion.com, “After an analysis of the evidence and speaking with the victim, it was determined there wasn’t sufficient evidence to proceed with the charges, so the case was closed.”
