Charges Filed Against Teen Who Escaped from Youth Facility

TIONESTA, Pa. (EYT) — Charges have been filed against an 18-year-old who escaped from a court-ordered diversion program in Tionesta.

Court documents indicate that on Wednesday, May 2, Marienville-based State Police filed one count of third-degree felony escape against 18-year-old Taylor Shipley in Magisterial District Judge Daniel L. Miller’s office.

According to a criminal complaint, around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, Taylor Shipley escaped from the Taylor Diversion Program located at 1 Light House Island in Tionesta Borough, Forest County.

Shipley was court committed to the Taylor Diversion Program as an adjudicated delinquent for the charges of terroristic threats, escape, burglary, and two crimes of theft, the complaint states.

Shipley was taken into custody in Westmoreland County on Tuesday, May 22, by PSP Greensburg.

He is currently lodged in the Westmoreland County Jail on unrelated charges.
