Charges Filed in Titusville Drug Overdose Death

| November 14, 2017

TITUSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Titusville Police Department filed felony charges today against a Titusville man in connection with a 2016 drug overdose death.

Benjamin Randall Galmish, 33, was arraigned on Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Amy L. Nicols on the following charges:

  • Drug Delivery Resulting in Death, Felony 1
  • Manufacture, Delivery or Possession with Intent to Deliver, Felony
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor

The charges stem from the July 2016 overdose death of 33-year-old Brandon M. McAleer.

On July 1, 2016, Titusville Police Department and emergency medical personnel responded to 617 West Elm Street for a report of a possible drug overdose.

Attempts to resuscitate McAleer were unsuccessful.

The Crawford County Coroner later determined that the cause of death was an overdose from a combination of heroin and fentanyl.

“A lengthy and complex investigation led to an approval of criminal charges by the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office,” said Titusville Police Department Chief Harold Minich in a release issued Tuesday.

Galmish was lodged in the Crawford County Jail after failing to post $75,000.00 cash bail.

He faces a preliminary hearing on November 28 before Judge Nicols.

This arrest marks the first time that the Titusville Police Department has utilized “Drug Delivery Resulting in Death” charges.

“Titusville Police Department will continue to work with all other law enforcement and prosecutorial partners to fully utilize all avenues available to address the growing narcotics issues facing our region,” said Chief Minich in the release.
