SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — Police say charges are pending in a suspected DUI-related crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in Sugarcreek Borough.

According to police, around 6:41 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, a known 52-year-old Franklin man was operating a 2005 Jeep Liberty, traveling west on U.S. 322 at its intersection with Sugarcreek Drive in Sugarcreek Borough.

Police say the man swerved into the eastbound lane and side-swiped a 2016 Ford Focus operated by 48-year-old Julie A. Santee, of Utica, on the front driver’s side fender, then traveled down the driver’s side of Santee’s vehicle.

According to police, the driver’s side rear tire of Santee’s vehicle was dislodged and the impact caused the vehicle to spin counter clockwise. It came to a final rest facing west in the eastbound lane.

The Jeep continued west in the eastbound lane until it left the roadway on the south berm and struck a guard rail end.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the Jeep suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance.

Santee was not injured.

Police say DUI and related charges against the Franklin man are pending blood test results.

Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The name of the Franklin man was not released.
