Bethesda Children’s Home to Hold Charity Mud Run on September 27

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Bethesda Children’s Home of Meadville will host its 3rd Charity Mud Run on Saturday, September 27, at its Meadville Campus on State Route 68.

As one of the first organizations in Crawford County to host an event of this nature, the Bethesda Children’s Home of Meadville has hosted the Mud Run event for the past three years to support programs and services the home provides to aid children, youth, and families in the region.

Registration for this year’s Mud Run will start at 8:00 a.m. with the run beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Mud Run will utilize 370 acres of primarily wooded area available on Bethesda’s North Main Street campus.

The 3.1 mile course winds through woods, fields, gullies, streams, rocks, fallen trees – and lots of mud and water. In addition to the rugged terrain of the course, participants will maneuver obstacles such as tunnels, hay-bales, a climbing wall, ropes, and tires.

Entrants may run as individuals or a team, with the option to be timed or not. Those who prefer to walk the course will be able to do so.

More than 400 participants are expected to register for this year’s event, with registrations being taken up to and including the day of the race.

Participants for the event typically range in age and levels of athleticism.

Each participant in this year’s Mud Run will receive a long-sleeved, runner-type shirt and a “medal.”

Spectators are welcome. After the race, entrants are invited to enjoy music, food, and beverages at the Meadville Elks Club.

Refreshments including – hotdogs, beans, chips, and beverages – are free to runners and available for a donation to spectators.

Free parking will be provided, both on the Bethesda Campus and directly across the street at The Elks Club. Bethesda volunteers will assist with parking and directions.

Emergency personnel from West Mead townships will be on site.
