Charl Ann Kapp, 81, of Oil City, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at her home.

Born December 1, 1936, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Elizabeth J. Payne Taylor.

After graduating from Oil City High School in 1954, she attended nursing school in Oil City, graduating in 1957 with a nursing degree. In 1982, she was licensed as a nurse practitioner.

On September 28, 1957, she was married to George William Kapp, who preceded her in death on August 15, 2000.

Mrs. Kapp worked for Adagio Health – The Family Health Council from which she retired in 2002.

Charl was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City and was ordained as a deacon in 1996. Missions were very important to her and she made four trips to Tanzania, Africa in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008. After witnessing first-hand, the lack of proper nutrition for the orphans in the hospitals there, she started a milk fund to assist them.

In addition to her commitment to the church and missions, she was also a tireless advocate in the local community, serving on the board for the PPC (Prevent, Protect, Change) Domestic Violence, volunteering as a youth mentor for Restorative Conferencing, working as a volunteer supervisor for teens assigned to community services and serving with the Northwest Pennsylvania AIDS Alliance.

Surviving are two sons, William H. Kapp and his wife Debbra of Oil City, and James R. Kapp of Kennerdell; a daughter, Dorothy J. Pacior of Oil City; seven grandchildren, Kasryn Kapp, Elena Kapp, Zoe Oakes and her husband Tad, Luke Kapp, Kira Kapp, Casimir Pacior and his wife Leslie, and Tiffany Bradley and her husband Ron; and six great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Edward Taylor and his wife Betty of Rockhill, SC; and two sisters, Alice Zalik of Oil City, and Elizabeth George and her husband Tom of Wexford.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home, on Thursday, May 31, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 1, in Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City, with Father Mark Elliston officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
