Charles ZieglerCharles A. Ziegler, 72, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at 7:52 p.m. on Sunday, April 2nd.

Born March 19, 1945 in Franklin, Charles was the son of the late Glenn C. and Ruth E. Eakin Ziegler.

He married his first wife, Patti M. Miller, on August 26, 1967, and she preceded him in death on August 21, 2004.

He then married the former April L. King on September 10, 2011, and she survives.

Charles was a manager at Honeywell Safety Products until his retirement in March of 2016. Prior to working for Honeywell Safety, he was employed for 29 years at Joy Mining Co. in Franklin.

He also served in the Unites States Air Force as a Sergeant from 1963 to 1967 and served in the Vietnam War from 1965 to1967.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors most especially with his best friend and mentor Ray Shook.

Charles was a very active member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Rocky Grove, where he taught Jr./Sr. High Sunday School and was also currently an adult Sunday School Teacher.

He previously served on Valley Grove School Board, and the Visiting Nurses Board.

In addition to his wife, April, he is survived by; his sons, Brian C. Ziegler and his wife, Traci, of Franklin; Jonathan D. King and his wife, Jennifer, of Franklin; Nicholas D. King and his wife, Jozie, of Franklin. He is also survived by his two brothers, Jerry L. Ziegler, and his wife, Carol, of Van; and Jay M. Ziegler, and his wife, Sherry, of Claysville, PA; and his sister, Mary L. Strong and her husband, William, of Venus.

He is additionally survived by his grandchildren, Alexis Ziegler, a student at Slippery Rock University; Jozlin and Sadie Ziegler, both of Franklin; Parker King, of Benton, LA; Ian and Callie Higley of Franklin; and Daenerys King, also of Franklin.

Family and friends will be received at the Grace United Methodist Church of Rocky Grove, 350 Front Street, Franklin, on Wednesday, April 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

A funeral service will follow visitation at noon with the Rev. Gary Atkinson, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.
