OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Two individuals were injured on Saturday afternoon from an attack by two loose dogs.

According to Oil City Police Chief Bob Wenner, the call came in at 12:06 p.m. on Saturday, November 4.

Chief Wenner told exploreVenango.com the incident happened on Siverly Avenue and involved a six-year-old female and a 22-year-old male.

The girl was bitten by a loose Pit Bull, and the man was bitten by a loose Doberman.

Three Oil City Police Officers responded to the scene.

According to Chief Wenner, although the officers attempted to take the dogs into custody, they became aggressive. One of the officers confirmed with the male victim that the Pit Bull and the Doberman were the dogs that had attacked them, and the officer “had a clear shot and wounded the Doberman.”

The Doberman fled and eventually returned to its owner.

The Pit Bull’s owner took possession of it at the scene.

Both individuals were injured and required medical assistance at the scene.

According to court documents, on Monday, November 6, the Oil City Police Department filed non-traffic dockets in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office against 44-year-old Ann Gilbert and 18-year-old Brittany Gilbert, both of Oil City.

Both Ann Gilbert and Brittany Gilbert face the following summary charges:

– Confined Within Premises of the Owner
– Dog Attacks Human W/O Provocation

They were issued certified summons on Monday, November 6.

The warden has ordered both dogs to be quarantined for 10 days at the owners’ residence, according to Chief Wenner.

Information on the condition of the Doberman was unavailable.

On Tuesday, November 7, Chief Wenner made contact with the victims and learned they required additional medical assistance; however, he was unsure of the specifics.
