OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — At Thursday night’s council meeting, the City of Oil City Fire Department chief announced that the department had received a grant.

Fire chief Mark Hicks said the department has received a $15,000.00 Pennsylvania State Fire Grant that it will use to purchase new dive equipment.

He also said the new radio system is up in running, and that it is 10-times better than the old system.

“We found out we were two changes behind the police,” Hicks said. “We are now on the same frequency.”

PNA paid for this part of the upgrade.

Hicks also said the department has applied for a $25,000.00 federal AFG grant that could be used to replace hand tools that have been broken.

“We should hear about that by mid-2018,” Hicks said.
