CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – The demolition of the former Clarion Owens-Illinois Glass Plant has started by Texas-based Seville Companies, Inc.  Seville Companies, Inc. specializes in buying and managing assets from companies that have buildings and plants set for demolition or liquidation.  Some warehouses may be maintained, but the buildings connected with the production of glass were expected to be demolished.

While the sale of the plant was confirmed this summer, the question of who is responsible for any remaining environmental responsibilities associated with the plant remain murky, according to an Aug. 22 ExploreClarion story.

According to O-I, any remaining environmental responsibilities rest with the new owner, but a Seville official declined to comment about such responsibility.

“With the sale of the property the new owner would be responsible for any remaining environmental closure at the site,” said Beth Perry, communication manager of Owens-Illinois, when contacted by ExploreClarion.com.
