CLARION, Pa. — Sean Fagan has accepted the position of Sports Information Director for Clarion University. Fagan, who most recently served as Assistant Director of Marketing, Communications and Engagement at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., began Nov. 23 at Clarion.

Fagan began at WMU in March 2011 and worked as the primary sports information contact for men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s tennis, as well as secondary contact for football.

He also assisted in overseeing the Bronco Insider/Bronco Productions staff, which was comprised of students and interns who produced graphic and video content for in-game video board productions as well as web distribution.

“Sean is highly regarded and respected on Western Michigan’s campus by his coworkers, coaches, administrators, student-athletes and the media,” said James Geiger, vice president for university advancement. “At WMU, Sean fostered a collaborative working environment in a team-based setting, ensuring that the needs of coaches, the athletics administration, and other departments were met quickly and with the utmost care.”

At WMU Fagan worked with programs that have made a combined five NCAA tournament appearances in the last four years, providing valuable experience in working in high-profile, high-pressure environments. He engaged with local and national media covering Bronco athletics, including the Mid-American Conference’s broadcast partners and members of the ESPN family of networks.

He collaborated on event-based social media campaigns around the official men’s basketball Twitter account that reached 3.11 million during the team’s 2014 NCAA Tournament run and attracted nearly 40,000 page views to the men’s basketball social media hub during the 2014 postseason.

“I am honored and excited to begin my time at Clarion,” said Fagan. “I have been humbled by the generous outpouring of support from my new colleagues. I would like to thank all those involved in the hiring process for having faith that I will be able to continue on the terrific work done here.”

Prior to joining the Western Michigan team, Fagan was Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pa. from August 2009 to March 2011. At Saint Francis, he was the primary contact for the Saint Francis football, men’s and women’s volleyball, as well as men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams.

Fagan holds a Master’s in Education Leadership from Saint Francis University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Theatre Arts from John Carroll University. Both he and his wife call Western Pennsylvania home, having both growing up in the region.
