Clarion U.’s Howsare, McKay to Play in SPIRAL Tropical Bowl Sunday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Clarion linebacker Avery Howsare and safety Colton McKay were among the college football seniors named to the roster of the 2018 SPIRAL Tropical Bowl, earning the right to play in front of NFL scouts on January 14 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Both Howsare and McKay appeared in all 44 games in their college careers, with both cementing their roles as team leaders and captains in 2017. Howsare finished 2017 with 43 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery, while McKay totaled 58 stops, 5.0 tackles for loss and two interceptions.

The Tropical Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 14 at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium, with kickoff set for 9 a.m. Since 2016, more than 110 players that participated in this game have gone on to professional careers, including the National Football League, the Canadian Football League and other professional arena leagues.
