An eight-time All-American, Vest claimed his third career national championship in the 1m Dive.

Battling his way through injuries over the course of the entire season, Vest pulled things together in the final NCAA event of his career to go out in style. He paced the field with a final score of 534.55, topping the second-place finish (Brad Dalrymple of Grand Valley State) by more than 20 points.

With the victory, Vest concludes his Clarion career as one of the most decorated Golden Eagles in recent memory. He finishes with four national championships – three in the 1m Dive and one in the 3m Dive – and eight total All-American placements.

The national championship also adds to the impressive all-time total of diving coach Dave Hrovat. Hrovat has now coached an incredible 46 national champions and 277 All-Americans in his tenure at Clarion. He’s had four top-eight finishers in this year’s Championships alone, including Vest twice and the duo of Christina Sather and Emma Kehn in the Women’s 1m Dive. Sather and Kehn will compete in the 3m Dive tomorrow night.

WOMEN’S RESULTS FROM THURSDAY: GOLDEN EAGLES CLAIM TWO ALL-AMERICANS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two members of the Clarion women’s diving team earned All-American honors on Thursday as Christina Sather and Emma Kehn both placed in the 1m Dive at the 2017 NCAA Division II Championship. The pair will both look to add to their totals later this week when they compete in the 3m Dive in Birmingham.

Sather improved in her second trip to the national meet with a strong finish on Thursday, taking second in the 1m Dive with a score of 445.70. Freshman Kehn also earned All-American honors, scoring 403.70 in the finals to take seventh overall.

“Both of these young women were so very poised in their competition tonight,” diving coach Dave Hrovat said. “I was very impressed by the way they handled their business on the board. Emma, in particular, was cool as a cucumber for a freshman. Not to take anything away from Christina, though, because they were both fantastic.”
