FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The drama onstage is nothing compared to the drama backstage in the hilarious play-within-a-play, “Noises Off!”

Franklin Civic Operetta Association will present Michael Frayn’s classic comedy on Saturday, August 18, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin.

Called “the funniest farce ever written” by the New York Post, the show takes a fond look at the follies of theatre folk, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss, and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. Only hours before opening night of a British adult farce called Nothing On, the cast is hurriedly running through a final dress rehearsal before the audience arrives. With lines being forgotten, trousers falling, love triangles unraveling, and sardines flying everywhere, things couldn’t get any worse…and they haven’t even reached intermission. Can the cast pull their act together on the stage, even if they can’t behind the scenes?

Lead by veteran stage director, Tami Shilling, the cast includes Jeri Bolton as Dotty Otley, Andrew Ritsig as Lloyd Dallas, Hannah McCarthy as Belinda Blair, Michael Gorman as Frederick Fellows, Tracy Brown as Brooke Ashton, Brooke Lawrie as Poppy Norton-Taylor, newcomer Noah Turk as Tim Allgood and Chris Marshall reprising his role of Garry Lejeune. Members of the production staff include Dicky Huber (properties), Dennis Brock (costumes), Gary Hundertmark (set design), Lisa Harry (stage manager), and Jodi Hoover and Davin Cutchall (producers).

Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $18.00 for seniors and military members, and $14.00 for students and children. Educators and groups of 10 or more save 15% on all performances. Families of three or more save 10% on August 19.
