Claude Allen Mohney

Claude Allen Mohney of Clarion passed away on March 27, 2019 at Clarion Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

He was 82 years of age.

Born on July 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Claude D. and Helen L. (Allen) Mohney.

A graduate of Clarion Area High School, Claude served his country as a member of the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1961.

On June 5, 1965, he married the former Virginia L. “Ginny” Raybuck.

Together, they celebrated more than 53 years of marriage.

They enjoyed walking together, rock ‘n roll music, and dancing.

In addition to his wife, Claude is survived by his son, Jeffrey A. Mohney and his significant friend, Laura Jamison, of Foxburg.

He is also survived by his two nieces, Marilyn Smith and Valerie Means and their families, along with a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Helen; and a brother, Raymond Foster Mohney.

Claude was a proud member of the American Legion Craig Fleming Post 66 of Clarion and served on the Funeral Honor Guard there for many years.

He was also an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3807 in Clarion. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold ‘Em poker and just about any other card game, going for a good walk or swimming, and dancing with Ginny.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the New Covenant Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarion, 700 Wood Street, Clarion PA 16214, or Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion PA 16214 (

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday.

An additional visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 Wood Street, Clarion.

Funeral services will follow from the church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Jonathan T. Scanlon, pastor, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Craig Fleming Post 66 Funeral Honor Guard at that time.

Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
