CLEARFIELD CO., Pa. (EYT) — A Pennsylvania woman has been accused of killing her husband and then trying to make it look like a suicide.

According to WTAJ News, Clearfield County District Attorney William Shaw held a press conference on Thursday to report the incident in which a woman used a gun to kill her husband, and then tried to make it appear that he had committed suicide.

The investigation began on March 14, 2019, after 46-year-old Kimberly Sue Williams made a 9-1-1 call from her home on Elm Drive in Morrisdale, PA, and reported that she was at her dresser when she heard a gunshot and then turned to find her husband laying dead.

Police responded to the scene and found her husband, Ronald Williams Jr., dead of a gunshot wound to the head laying in his bed with a .22 Magnum in his hand.

However, after police received information that the victim had been looking at changing his will, they began to investigate further, particularly after Kimberly Williams reached out to them to stated an autopsy wasn’t required due to it “being a suicide.”

An autopsy was conducted and it was found that there was no evidence on the body to show the victim had fired the gun. The coroner found that the gun was fired from a distance “greater than his harm” leading police to believe the victim had been shot by someone else.

A private lab’s testing also showed that the victim did not have gunshot residue on either his hand or near the gunshot wound. However, residue was found on Kimberly Williams’s left hand.

A warrant was then issued for her arrest. She was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 16, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she currently awaits extradition back to Pennsylvania.

During the news conference, District Attorney Shaw was asked about a possible motive and stated that the victim had previously suffered a stroke and money may have also been a factor in the crime.
